Eelko’s passion for innovative development finance brought him to Financial Access in 2010. Having been involved in numerous capital raising and financial advisory assignments across emerging markets over the last 30 years, he became increasingly fascinated by the challenge to improve financial inclusion in agricultural supply chains.
Eelko is Managing Director of Financial Consulting Services and Chairman of the Board of the Advans Group, an international microfinance investment firm. Eelko has extensive experience in international, commercial and development finance and in building businesses in the financial sector. At Financial Access his focus areas include agrifinance, supply chain finance and MSME finance. Eelko has particular expertise in developing and implementing technology-led access to finance solutions in the agriculture sector.
More recently, his activities at Financial Access concentrate on the design and delivery of innovative, sustainable and scalable financing models for farmers tied to large commodity supply chains.
Before joining Financial Access, Eelko was the CEO of the Orangefield Group, following its management buy-out from ING Group in 2007. Until 2007 Eelko worked for ABN Amro Bank for 20 years in a variety of commercial and senior management roles in The United States, Asia, and Europe.
Eelko holds a Masters of International Law Degree from the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands and has completed the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD, France.
After a 20-year career in finance, sales & marketing, and various Board positions in the IT industry and banking sector, Carel became an entrepreneur and co-founded in 2011 the Amsterdam-based Marie-Stella-Maris, a social enterprise that a.o. produces, markets, and sells bottled drinking water. Through the Marie Stella Maris Foundation it also sponsors the development of clean drinking water projects in Asia and Africa.
Carel has been inspired by the UN Resolution adopted in 2010 where access to clean drinking water and hygiene was declared a basic human right. In addition to building the Marie Stella Maris brand and organization, Carel has developed with selected corporate partners a framework and policy for the efficient development and implementation of projects in small communities in rural Africa.
Carel is passionate about translating innovative, proven private sector-driven concepts to drive sustainable impact. At LendXS Carel will use his extensive marketing experience to support the development of a brand and product that is singlemindedly client-focused, affordable and will contribute to greater and measurable financial inclusion in rural markets.
Carel holds a MSc in Business Economics from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.
Paul is a passionate, cross-functional, and commercially driven professional with over 7 years of business analyst experience across manufacturing, agriculture, IT, EdTech, and ESG investment advisory.
Paul believes strongly in the need for food security and its importance in poverty alleviation through financial inclusion and effective capacity building. He has experience and a deep interest in rapidly building new businesses by commercializing technologies across dynamic and evolving markets, with a focus upon data-driven analytical models and rigorous financial risk mapping.
He has a MSc in Financial Economics and BSc in International Economics and Business Economics from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
William’s role in LendXS is to perform detailed analysis and financial operations assessment for clients. His main responsibilities include financial analysis and mapping of agri-supply chain actors as well as providing impact investment advisory services. William has extensive knowledge in the financial analysis of agricultural commodity markets derived from his experience in trading agricultural commodity derivatives.
William previously worked at Futures First Kenya as a Financial Market Analyst where he traded agricultural commodity derivatives. He holds a Master of Science in Finance degree from the University of Nairobi and is also an ACCA Affiliate.
Valentine is a product development professional with 4 years’ extensive experience working with cross-cultural teams in the financial services, technology and agriculture sectors. Her areas of expertise cuts across, product development, UX research, agile software development, digital financial services and technology.
Valentine is the Product Owner leading LendXS product development. She works at the intersection of business strategy and technology and is responsible for translating abstract visions into reality, while managing client expectations and efficiency. She combines her technological expertise and strong business acumen to develop the product towards the company vision. Valentine is also a core member of the Product Development Committee.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in International Business Administration, Finance from United States International University-Africa.
Francis is a Java backend developer who specializes in Java enterprise technologies.
In cooperation with Incentro, he supports LendXS as the Senior Software developer.
He is experienced building complete backend API systems and working with Java SE, Java EE, Spring Framework and PostgreSQL.
Francis holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Information Technology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
Kyle’s role for LendXS is to provide data analysis and support the development of the credit scoring methodology.
He has attained a highly successful academic background in economics and risk management, with a cum laude honors degree in international trade. Furthermore, he has passed both the level I and level II exams of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program. Kyle has also recently completed his MSc in Economics at Vrije University Amsterdam, which focussed on relevant economic policy challenges faced by society today and tomorrow.
Christopher is responsible for business & market development for LendXS in West Africa.
Based in Accra, he has experience in value chain analysis, farming systems and livelihood assessment, agrifinance, and sustainable smallholder financing programs.
He holds an MSc in Environment and Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science where his master thesis focused on exploring microfinance as a tool for smallholder adaptation to climate change. He is currently pursuing a PhD on the use of digital tools for smallholder credit access with Wageningen University and Research.
Jean-Hugues is responsible for business & market development for LendXS in Francophone West Africa.
Based in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, he is involved in financial sector and value chain analysis, business development, and the delivery of the LendXS digital financial inclusion solutions for rural lenders.
Jean-Hugues holds an MSc in Management from Cranfield School of Management, United Kingdom, and a BA in Political Science from Concordia University, Canada.
Based in Nairobi, Mr. Charles Bélanger has over 15 years of experience in the financial sector and has an extensive track record in microfinance advisory. Having held senior management positions with MFIs in West and East Africa. Charles has developed deep operational experience with microfinance operations.
He is proficient in database management and digital financial technologies for rural microfinance including the development of mobile money and digitalization and agency banking.
Cindy’s role is to support business development, marketing, research and to design and implement operational processes and policies of LendXS.
Cindy has a background in Banking and finance and started her career at CTBC Bank in Taiwan as a Micro Enterprises Loan Officer. Also, Cindy has gained extensive experience in developing financial mobile applications in a fintech start-up company before coming to the Netherlands. In 2020, she obtained her MScBA with a specialization in Business Analytics from TIAS Business School in the Netherlands.
Dennis’s role is to manage finance and operational matters. He is passionate about agribusiness specifically smallholder farmers in Africa to improve their productivity and standard of living. Dennis previously worked for Cargill in Ghana and Zambia in their cocoa, cotton, maize and soyabean businesses.
Dennis holds an MBA from Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands, and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of the West of England, UK.
